About DockDogs
DockDogs is a dock diving dog sport in which dogs compete in jumping for distance or height from a dock into a body of water. The jump distance is measured from the end of the dock to the point at which the base of the dog’s tail enters the water. The jump is measured electronically using digital video freeze frame technology or in some cases, is measured manually by judges.
Dock jumping originated in the United States in 1997 and has since spread worldwide with competitions being held in the United States the UK and Australia. DockDogs was established in the United States in 2000 with its first event being held at the ESPN Great Outdoor Games competition.
